Making Conductive Thread

Due to the high expense of conductive thread, methods of creating our own from existing products will reduce costs when sampling but also when proposing total cost of the final speaker product. Furthermore, these processes recycle product waste and therefore will make the speakers more sustainable, appealing to a larger audience.

Materials
·  Insulated waste cable”/ wire
·   Scalpel

Method:
  1.    Take you insulated wire and cut a small slice up the length of the end to “expose the cluster of threads”.
  2.     Firmly grasp the wire then peel the insulation back down the length. If done correctly the insulation should, all come of like a banana skin in one piece.”
  3.      “Separate the strands”: “You may find the strands are twisted through the length.” Untwist and “carefully remove individual strands and spool them for future use.

The thread made is very “flexible” yet when “kinked” can create “weak spots”.
